Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is now available for pre-order in India. The company opened bookings at 5:30 pm IST on October 16, and the device will go on sale from October 23 through Apple’s online store, the Apple Store app, Apple retail stores and select partner retailers across the country.
The iPhone Duo was unveiled in September at Apple’s ‘Surprise and Shine’ event alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, new AirPods and Apple Watch models. While the rest of the lineup has already gone on sale, the foldable was held back until now. It marks Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market, a segment where Samsung has dominated for years.
Book-style foldable design and dual displays
The iPhone Duo uses a book-style folding design with a 5.4-inch outer screen that opens up into a 7.6-inch inner display. Both are Super Retina XDR panels, and the frame is built from titanium. Under the hood, the device runs Apple’s A20 Pro chipset on iOS 27.1, with support for Apple Intelligence features.
On the camera front, the foldable carries a dual rear camera setup headlined by a 48-megapixel sensor. Apple is positioning the larger folding display as a canvas for movies, multitasking and productivity apps that benefit from the extra screen space.
iPhone Duo price in India and storage variants
Apple has priced the iPhone Duo from Rs. 2,99,900 in India. Four storage configurations are available:
- 256GB – Rs. 2,99,900
- 512GB – Rs. 3,24,900
- 1TB – Rs. 3,74,900
- 2TB – Rs. 4,49,900
The foldable will be sold in two colour options — Star White and Night Sky. The top-end 2TB variant is among the most expensive smartphones Apple has ever sold in India.
Launch offers: trade-in, EMI and cashback
To soften the steep price, Apple is bundling several launch offers. Customers trading in an eligible iPhone 13 or newer model can get up to Rs. 81,500 in credit under the company’s Trade In programme, with the final value depending on the device’s model and condition.
Apple is also offering no-cost EMI for up to 12 months through most leading banks. Eligible American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cardholders can get up to Rs. 7,000 in instant cashback. Additionally, every iPhone Duo purchase includes three months of Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade.
Where to pre-book and repair costs
Pre-orders are open through Apple’s official website, the Apple Store app and Apple’s retail stores, with delivery or store pickup options after October 23. Retail partner banners are also live on Flipkart, Croma, Vijay Sales and authorised resellers such as Imagine.
Buyers should note the repair costs: AppleCare+ for the device costs Rs. 51,900, and foldable screen repair costs range from Rs. 5,900 to Rs. 2,24,900 depending on the damage — nearly as much as an iPhone 18 Pro itself. Buyers are advised to check the terms and eligibility conditions before completing their booking.
The launch comes as the foldable segment matures globally, with Apple arriving years after rivals and betting that its brand pull and the iPhone Duo’s dual-display experience will justify the premium. Analysts will be watching early demand closely: if the foldable sells through its first allocation in India, it could signal a wider shift of premium buyers toward folding form factors.
