Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG Launched at Rs 9.99 Lakh: 24.7 km/kg Mileage

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG

Mahindra has entered the factory-fitted CNG race with the XUV 3XO CNG, launched in India on October 15, 2026 at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Badged the XUV 3XO ZNG, it is Mahindra’s first mainstream CNG passenger vehicle, and the company says it is now India’s most powerful factory-fitted CNG car.

The ZNG will be sold in four manual variants — MX Edge, REVX Edge (O), AX5 and REVX A — priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 12.27 lakh. Bookings open on October 20, 2026, at authorised dealerships and online, with deliveries beginning the same day. Test drives are already underway across the country.

Powertrain and mileage

The XUV 3XO ZNG uses Mahindra’s 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi turbocharged petrol engine, tuned to produce the same output in both modes: 82 kW (about 111 hp) and 200 Nm of torque, with peak torque available from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. Mahindra says optimised turbocharger calibration and ECU mapping are what keep the CNG and petrol figures identical.

The certified fuel efficiency is 24.7 km/kg. Mahindra claims 0-60 km/h in 4.9 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 11.8 seconds in CNG mode. The system runs a 10-bar CNG injection pressure, which Mahindra calls a first in the segment, and it switches to petrol automatically when the CNG tanks run low.

All four trims come with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. There is no automatic option on the CNG.

Boot space that survives the CNG conversion

The biggest practical change is under the boot floor: two CNG cylinders are packaged side by side beneath the luggage area, keeping the loading floor flat. The result is 270 litres of usable boot space, and the spare wheel stays mounted under the body rather than eating into the boot.

Other touches include a dedicated fuel-selection switch in the cabin, average and instantaneous fuel-economy displays, and an NGV fast-filling valve.

Variants and prices

  • MX Edge — Rs 9.99 lakh: 26.03 cm touchscreen, wireless Android Auto, 4 speakers, rear camera, cruise control, rear AC vents, 60:40 split rear seat.
  • REVX Edge (O) — Rs 10.79 lakh: adds the panoramic Skyroof, roof rails, auto headlamps and wipers, keyless entry, push-button start and black leatherette seats.
  • AX5 — Rs 11.19 lakh: twin 26.03 cm screens (infotainment plus digital cluster), diamond-cut alloy wheels, single-pane sunroof, LED projector headlamps, AdrenoX Connect with Alexa and dual-zone climate control.
  • REVX A — Rs 12.27 lakh: adds the Skyroof, Dolby Atmos sound, dual-tone roof and painted black alloys.

The CNG premium over the matching petrol trims works out to roughly Rs 90,000.

Features and safety

The CNG version carries the petrol car’s cabin and exterior largely unchanged, apart from the ZNG badge on the tailgate. Depending on the trim, buyers get a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen and driver display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Dolby Atmos, connected LED tail-lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, Isofix child-seat mounts, disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors. Mahindra says the car ships with 35 standard safety features.

Rivals: Nexon CNG and Brezza CNG

The ZNG goes straight after the Tata Nexon CNG and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. On paper, the Mahindra has the stronger punch: 200 Nm of torque beats the Nexon CNG’s 170 Nm and the Brezza CNG’s 122 Nm. The Nexon’s 24 km/kg is slightly below the 3XO’s 24.7 km/kg, while the Brezza CNG claims 25.5 to 26.9 km/kg. The Nexon counters with a larger 321-litre boot against the 3XO’s 270 litres.

The 3XO itself has been a success story for Mahindra — launched in April 2024 with petrol and diesel options, it crossed 2.5 lakh sales in under two and a half years, and an EV version joined the range in January 2026. The CNG is the fourth fuel option in the line-up.
